Emergence, the touring postgraduate dance company of Joss Arnott Dance and University of Salford, presents a new triple bill of adrenaline-fuelled dance for this year’s programme, performed by a new company of 20 extraordinary dancers.
Italian choreographer Sofia Nappi presents CHIMERA, a dance work that draws inspiration from the diverse backgrounds and personalities within the Emergence cast. The concept of Chimera emerged from the mythological creature composed of distinct parts: a goat, a snake and a lion; melding together to form a unique being. Similarly, the choreography weaves together the individuality of the cast members to create not just a creature, but also a cohesive community.

SAY (Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui) (see images) present 153 8s, a new dance work inspired by the concept of a music album. Each track brings its own qualities, resulting in a piece that contains both explosivity and fragility. With carefully selected music, the piece showcases the individual talents of each dancer, highlighting their unique strengths and styles, as well as fostering a powerful sense of unity. It’s an exhilarating celebration of music, movement, and collaboration, leaving a lasting impression with its intensity and vitality.

Artistic Director Joss Arnott and assistant choreographer Lisa Marie Robinson complete the 2025 programme with a new work featuring Arnott’s signature, exhilarating movement language. The piece explores the complexities of our ego, demonstrating a journey that ends in euphoria, allowing the dancers to lose their inhibitions and become the best versions of themselves. Be prepared to witness an exquisite interplay between movement and music, all of which is accompanied by electrifying new music by composer James Keane.

Artistic Director, Joss Arnott: “The new Emergence touring programme for 2025 features three brand new, adrenaline fuelled dance productions that showcase amazing talent from the next generation of extraordinary dancers. The Emergence tour plays a pivotal part in Joss Arnott Dance’s 15th anniversary celebratory activity, and I cannot wait to bring this high-quality dance programme to our audiences, both new and existing, throughout spring/summer 2025!

Audiences can expect an exhilarating dance programme performed by an extremely talented cast of international dancers, featuring our biggest company yet, original new music, stunning lighting designs with collaborations in costume and fashion. It’s an event you really do not want to miss!”
